President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, as Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, while Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has been nominated as Minister-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The nominations were announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday( August 7), and signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
According to the statement, the nominations were made in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution and have been submitted to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval.
In addition to the new nominations, President Mahama has reassigned two ministers to new portfolios as part of changes within his administration.
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to serve as Minister for Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, has been moved to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The latest appointments and reassignments form part of the President’s efforts to strengthen the administration and enhance the delivery of government programmes across key sectors.
The ministerial nominees are expected to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting before the House considers their approval.
