The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and Women in Mining Ghana (WIM Ghana) have discussed potential areas of collaboration aimed at increasing women’s participation and leadership in Ghana’s mining sector.
The discussions took place during a courtesy call by WIM Ghana on MIIF Chief Executive Officer, Justina Nelson, and focused on initiatives to promote professional development and gender inclusion in the industry.
Key areas explored included leadership development programmes, mentorship initiatives, internship opportunities for female students, research-driven advocacy, and partnerships with industry, academia, and international stakeholders.
According to WIM Ghana, the engagement aligns with its strategic focus on bridging the gender gap in mining through capacity building, technical training, networking opportunities, and leadership development programmes for women and girls.
The organization expressed appreciation to Mrs. Nelson and the MIIF team for what it described as productive discussions, reaffirming its commitment to creating more opportunities for women to thrive and lead in Ghana’s mining and extractive sector.
