The Minerals Commission has highlighted Ghana’s mining investment opportunities at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC 2026) in Sydney, Australia, as the country seeks to attract responsible investment and expand participation in the mining value chain.
The conference, being held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney from October 27 to 29, 2026, brought together mining executives, investors, policymakers and other industry stakeholders.
Ghana’s delegation was led by Victoria Awuni, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission responsible for Policy Planning, Mineral Titles and Local Content. She represented the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Isaac Andrews Tandoh, and delivered Ghana’s investment presentation during the Ministerial and Government Opportunities Session.
In her presentation, Ms Awuni outlined Ghana’s competitive advantages, investment opportunities and efforts to position the country as a preferred destination for responsible and sustainable mining investment.

She highlighted Ghana’s mineral resources, established mining industry, evolving regulatory framework and commitment to creating an enabling environment for existing and prospective investors.
The opportunities she presented covered several areas of the mining value chain, including mineral exploration, mine development, mining support services, local content participation, mineral processing and value addition.
Ms Awuni also highlighted the Minerals Commission’s role in improving regulatory efficiency, promoting transparency in mineral rights administration and strengthening responsible mineral resource governance to support long-term investment.

With Ghana established as Africa’s leading gold producer, she underscored the country’s ambition to move beyond mineral extraction towards greater beneficiation, industrial development and increased Ghanaian participation in the mining industry.
Ghana’s participation in the ministerial session provided an opportunity to present its mining investment proposition to the international investment community and reaffirm its commitment to sustainable resource development and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The conference also offers the Minerals Commission an opportunity to engage international mining companies, technology providers, investors and regulatory institutions on emerging industry trends, innovation and potential areas of cooperation.
The Commission said its participation reflects Ghana’s determination to remain a leading mineral-producing nation while strengthening its position as a competitive and transparent destination for mining investment.
Through engagements at international platforms such as IMARC, the Commission aims to attract responsible investment, deepen global partnerships and promote a mining industry that delivers sustainable economic benefits to Ghana.
