The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has intensified its nationwide crackdown on illegal mining, conducting a major operation at the Cape Three Points Forest Reserve in the Western Region.
The raid, carried out earlier this week, led to the arrest of several illegal miners (galamseyers) and the destruction of mining equipment and narcotic substances found at the site.
According to NAIMOS officials, the intelligence-led operation forms part of sustained efforts to protect Ghana’s forest reserves and water bodies from the destructive effects of illegal mining.

The team stormed the forest reserve , taking the miners by surprise and dismantling several unauthorized mining camps.
In the course of the operation, the task force destroyed multiple excavators, water pumps, and other mining tools used in the illegal activities.

Substances suspected to be narcotic drugs were also discovered and burned on-site as part of the clean-up exercise.
