The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has dismissed media commentary suggesting an impending shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Ghana.
In a press release issued on Friday, February 20, 2026, the Authority addressed comments attributed to the Chief Executive of the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, Dr. Riverson Oppong, who reportedly called on the public to fill their cylinders in anticipation of a gas shortage.
The NPA assured the public that there is sufficient LPG in stock to meet demand, stating that the country currently has LPG reserves covering over a month, with local refinery production operating at its highest level.
The Authority further indicated that, in addition to national imports, an LPG cargo is expected within the next two weeks to bolster existing stock levels and maintain market stability.
Consumers have been advised not to engage in panic buying and to remain assured that there is no impending LPG shortage in the country.
