Police have arrested two suspects believed to be part of a robbery syndicate that carried out coordinated attacks on a gold buying firm, a cocoa buying company and a rural bank at Nkasiem on 2 December 2025.
The Ahafo Regional Police Command said the group also seized two police rifles and attempted, but failed, to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank during the spree.
According to a statement issued on 3 December, the attackers were armed with pump‑action shotguns and shot one person in the thigh during the incidents.
The injured victim was treated and later discharged from St Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem, also in the Ahafo Region.
Police say the two suspects were picked up in a targeted intelligence‑led operation mounted after the attacks in Nkasiem.
A manhunt is under way for additional members of the alleged syndicate who are believed to have fled the area following the arrests.
In response to the incident, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special anti‑robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to support the regional command.
The unit has been tasked with tracking down the remaining suspects and dismantling the wider network thought to be behind the coordinated assaults on the financial and commercial targets.
The Ahafo Regional Police Command has appealed for public cooperation and assured residents that all those involved will be identified and brought before the courts.
