Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah
Head of Mobilisation at Democracy Hub, Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah has been released after being detained for several days despite meeting his bail conditions earlier in the week.
His release comes after legal practitioner and member of Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor publicly raised concerns about the delay, noting on Wednesday that Yeboah had remained in custody since Monday because the CID officer required to complete the bail process was reportedly “away on course.”
Barker-Vormawor earlier described the situation as an abuse of administrative discretion, adding sarcastically: “I want to be Regional Minister when I grow up. Who say power no sweet?”
Background
Yeboah was arrested following a petition submitted to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over alleged false claims relating to illegal mining (galamsey).
A police statement issued on 26 November 2025, signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, said the petition was filed by Mr. Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the Ashanti, Eastern and Western Regional Ministers.
The statement indicated that Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah was arrested to assist with investigations and was expected to be arraigned before court on 27 November 2025.
