The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has interdicted a police inspector over allegations of defilement involving his 14-year-old biological daughter.
According to a police statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit at Mampong, the officer, identified as Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie and stationed at the Mamponteng District, is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Agona District.
Police said the case was reported on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua on behalf of the victim. The complaint alleged that the teenager had been sexually abused by her biological father.
The victim was subsequently referred to a government health facility for medical examination to assist investigations.
The statement indicated that Inspector Afriyie reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU office on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and cautioned. A statement was taken from him, but he denied the allegations.
He was later granted enquiry bail pending further investigations.
“The Inspector is currently being interdicted to pave way for further investigation,” the statement said.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command assured the public that investigations into the matter are ongoing and pledged to ensure due process is followed.
