The Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB) has announced a temporary suspension on the acceptance of new applications for mineral trading licenses, effective immediately.
The decision is aimed at allowing authorities to review and enhance the regulatory framework governing mineral trading in the country.
According to RMB, the move is intended to improve service delivery and strengthen compliance across the sector.
“This necessary measure will allow RMB to review and enhance the current regulations governing mineral trading licenses,” the statement noted.
While the suspension affects new license applications, the Board clarified that renewals and amendments of existing licenses will continue as usual and will not be affected by the directive.
Stakeholders and the public have been assured that the review process will support a more transparent, efficient, and compliant mineral trading environment in Rwanda.
