Police have recovered a pistol and seven rounds of live ammunition from a 72-year-old man arrested in connection with the killing of two relatives at Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, was arrested at a hideout in Tikrom, near Ejisu, on Sunday(November 1) according to the police.
The recovered weapon is a Smith & Wesson pistol, which has been retained as an exhibit as investigations continue.
The suspect is being investigated over the alleged murder of George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47, who were reportedly shot dead at their residence at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, on October 30, 2026.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the killings may be linked to a financial dispute involving an alleged GH¢500,000 loan the suspect reportedly obtained from George Atuguba and had failed to repay.
The suspect remains in police custody and is assisting with investigations.
