Ghana’s outgoing Second Lady, Samira Bawumia has promised to deepen her advocacy on issues pertaining to climate change, women empowerment, health and education.
The pledge comes barely to the end of the eight-year tenure of her husband, Vice President Bawumia in office.
Ghana’s former president John Dramani Mahama last month staged a political comeback by winning the 7 December Presidential election after his rival, vice president and ruling party candidate Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat.
In a Facebook post on Monday (6 January), Samira Bawumia commended Ghanaians for their support during her tenure as the 6th and youngest Second Lady of the 4th Republic.
“Thank you, Ghana, for the incredible honour to have served as the 6th and youngest Second Lady of the 4th Republic. I am deeply grateful for your support and particularly proud of the many lives I inspired and impacted throughout this tenure,” she said.
“From the high-level advocacy both globally and locally to everyday interactions, it has been a great privilege and honour.”
She added “I look forward to more exciting endeavours as I continue my work in climate action, women empowerment, health and education. God bless us all and our homeland, Ghana.”
