Supporters of the New Patriotic Party have started jubilating at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka following the dismissal of the 2020 election petition.
The jubilation took a different dimension upon the arrival of the NPP Chairman Freddy Blay and General Secretary John Boadu.
Ghana’s Supreme court on Thursday unanimously dismissed the 2020 election petition filed by the NDC Presidential candidate John Mahama .
The verdict brings to an end day of political wrangling and uncertainty in the country.
The long-awaited verdict confirms Akufo Addo’s victory as the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate during last December’s presidential election.
Ghana’s electoral commission declared Akufo Addo the winner with 51.59 percent of valid votes cast as against John Mahama of the NDC who polled 47.36 percent.
But the opposition claimed the vote had been rigged. They alleged that election figures were inflated and in some cases there had been ballot stuffing.
