A 27-year-old man has been confirmed dead after a building collapsed at Avenor in Accra on Sunday(7 June) morning following heavy rainfall.
The victim’s body was retrieved from the rubble during an ongoing search and rescue operation led by firefighters from the Circle Fire Station and the GNFS Headquarters.
The collapsed structure is located opposite the Ashfoam Showroom and adjacent to Melcom Plus at Avenor in the North Industrial Area.
Earlier, the GNFS reported that two people had been rescued from the debris, while rescue teams continued efforts to locate others believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident comes just days after a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Adenta on June 3, resulting in one death and four injuries.
