A building has collapsed at Avenor in Accra following this mornings rain, prompting an ongoing search and rescue operation by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Firefighters from the Circle Fire Station and the GNFS Headquarters are currently at the scene conducting rescue efforts.
The collapsed structure is located opposite the Ashfoam Showroom and adjacent to Melcom Plus at Avenor.
In a video update the GNFS said two people had been rescued from the rubble, while about two others were believed to be trapped beneath the debris.
Emergency responders are continuing efforts to locate and rescue any persons who may still be trapped. The cause of the collapse has not yet been established, and authorities have not released information on the condition of those rescued.
The incident comes just three days after a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Adenta on June 3, killing one person and injuring four others.
