In a renewed effort to confront Ghana’s persistent road safety crisis, ZEN Petroleum Limited, in partnership with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), has launched the Safe Drive Campaign, a nationwide public education initiative aimed at curbing dangerous driving behaviours and reducing road traffic crashes.
The campaign was officially unveiled at a media launch held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the NRSA Accra Regional Office in Ridge.
The event brought together officials from both institutions and members of the media, underscoring the growing recognition that road carnage in Ghana demands sustained, coordinated, and visible intervention.
Road traffic crashes continue to pose a serious public safety challenge in the country, with many incidents linked to preventable human factors such as speeding, reckless driving, fatigue, inattention, and disregard for traffic regulations.
While enforcement and infrastructure upgrades remain important, stakeholders say meaningful reductions in road fatalities will only be achieved when drivers take personal responsibility for their actions on the road.
The Safe Drive Campaign seeks to directly confront this behavioural challenge through the deployment of high-visibility road safety signage along some of Ghana’s busiest and most accident-prone corridors, including the Accra–Kumasi and Accra–Tarkwa highways.
The signage carries clear, direct messages designed to prompt alertness, patience, and compliance with traffic laws at critical points along these routes.
ZEN Petroleum Limited says the initiative reflects its commitment to safety beyond its core business operations. By investing in public road safety awareness, the company is positioning itself as an active partner in national efforts to protect lives and promote responsible road use.
For the NRSA, the collaboration reinforces the view that road safety cannot be achieved through regulation alone. The Authority maintains that partnerships with the private sector, supported by the media and civil society, are essential to shaping safer road culture and influencing everyday driving decisions.
Officials say the Safe Drive Campaign is expected to sustain public attention on road safety, reinforce positive driving habits, and complement existing enforcement and education strategies.
Through consistent visibility and messaging, the initiative aims to contribute to long-term reductions in road crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
ZEN Petroleum Limited is a leading indigenous oil marketing company operating a nationwide network of over 60 filling stations and supplying fuels and lubricants across Ghana.
The NRSA is the country’s lead agency for road safety management under the Ministry of Transport, mandated to reduce road traffic crashes and safeguard lives on Ghana’s roads.
