Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (ZGRL), operator of the Akyem Gold Mine, has partnered with the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) to support the 2026 Invest Ghana Summit and the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards.
The partnership was announced at the official launch of the two events in Accra, attended by Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, officials of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and representatives of the public and private sectors.
The Invest Ghana Summit provides a platform for investors, policymakers and business leaders to explore investment opportunities, while the Ghana Club 100 Awards recognise leading Ghanaian companies and their contributions to the economy.
ZGRL said the partnership reflects its confidence in Ghana’s investment potential and its focus on responsible mining, local employment, procurement, environmental management and community development.
The company said it generated more than GH¢7 billion in direct economic value in 2025, including GH¢1.41 billion in taxes and royalties paid to the state and GH¢4.19 billion spent on Ghanaian suppliers and service providers.
The Akyem Gold Mine currently supports 1,235 direct jobs, including 597 people from its 10 host communities who are employed by the company or its contractors.
Speaking at the launch, ZGRL Vice President for Sustainability and External Relations, Jason Zhang, said the company’s participation demonstrated its confidence in Ghana as an investment destination.
“Ghana continues to demonstrate the qualities investors look for – stability, opportunity and a clear vision for growth,” he said.
Mr Zhang said the company’s experience at Akyem showed that responsible investment could create jobs, support local businesses, generate government revenue and contribute to national development.
On environmental sustainability, ZGRL said it had restored 317 hectares of land in partnership with the Forestry Commission, representing more than three times the area directly affected by its mining activities.
The company is also implementing what it describes as Ghana’s first large-scale biodiversity offset programme in the mining sector through a 10-year conservation partnership in the Atewa landscape.
ZGRL has additionally introduced 46 new-energy haul trucks, including fully electric units, as part of efforts to reduce emissions and promote cleaner mining technologies.
The 2026 Invest Ghana Summit and Ghana Club 100 Awards are expected to bring together government officials, investors, business leaders and development partners to explore investment, innovation and economic transformation opportunities in Ghana.
