Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, a member of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, has paid a working visit to the Chamber’s Secretariat in Accra to hold strategic discussions with the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Chamber.
The high-level meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly around regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability, and Ghana’s broader mining operating environment. It forms part of Zijin’s efforts to enhance engagement with key industry stakeholders and demonstrate its commitment to responsible mining practices.
Zijin provided updates on its project expansion activities and received commendation from the Chamber for its forward-looking approach and continued investment in Ghana’s mining sector. The Chamber reiterated its support for member companies undertaking projects that align with responsible resource development and contribute to national growth.
A major highlight of the meeting was Zijin’s environmental performance. The company revealed that although its operations had impacted about 101 hectares of forest reserve, it has successfully rehabilitated over 250 hectares, underscoring its commitment to ecological restoration and sustainable practices.

Discussions also covered key regulatory matters, including the proposed amendments to the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703). Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening the fiscal and legal framework to enhance investor confidence and ensure transparency in the sector.
The issue of illegal mining also featured prominently. Both Zijin and the Chamber expressed concern over the threat posed by illegal mining to licensed concessions and called for more effective and coordinated enforcement to protect legitimate mining operations and exploration activities.
On the matter of community and government relations, the Chamber pledged to support Zijin in strengthening ties with regional and municipal authorities through official visits and stakeholder engagement. Zijin, in turn, reiterated its commitment to maintaining respectful and inclusive relations with traditional leaders in its areas of operation. The Chamber welcomed this approach and encouraged deeper collaboration with local institutions.
The Chamber of Mines commended Zijin for its transparency, environmental responsibility, and willingness to engage on issues critical to the sector’s growth. Both parties described the meeting as productive and reaffirmed their commitment to work closely in advancing Ghana’s mining industry through ethical practices and sustainable development.
