A new opinion poll says former President John Mahama is seen as the presidential candidate Ghanaian voters trust the most to handle the country’s economic issues compared to his main rivals.
The poll was conducted nationwide last month by independent research firm Global InfoAnalytics.
It surveyed a sample of Ghanaian registered voters on their views regarding the key issues and candidates for Ghana’s 2024 elections.
On the key issue of the economy, the poll found that “John Mahama has a strong lead over his rivals.”
Among all voters who said the economy is their top priority, the poll data shows “John Mahama leads with 50% while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia comes second with 30%, and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen third with 10%.”
The poll also analysed the views of floating voters, considered crucial in deciding election outcomes.
According to the research firm, “Among floating voters, a block likely to decide who becomes president in 2025, John Mahama leads with 61%, Dr. Bawumia, 14% and Alan Kyerematen, 11%.”
Data from the October 2023 poll suggests that on the economy, the top issue for voters in 2024, John Mahama has a strong lead over his rivals.
