Abdul-Rahman Mankir
President John Mahama has appointed Abdul-Rahman Mankir as the acting Managing Director of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company.
The company is an agency of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
Abdul-Rahman Mankir has previously worked with the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG), as a senior accountant.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and an MSC in Accounting and Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He is expected to help turn around the fortunes of the struggling company which was acquired by Ghana Gas in 2024.
GCMC Limited is one of the State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that has been struggling to operate over the year.
The company incurred a loss of GHC4 million in 2021.
Consequently, President Akufo-Addo in April 2023, approved the acquisition of the cylinder manufacturer by Ghana Gas Company.
The Auditor General’s report revealed that the current financial position of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company makes it incapable of meeting its short-term financial obligations.
