AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has commissioned a state-of-the-art Smart Systems Centre at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, under the theme “Empowering Future Innovators through STEM and Smart Systems.”
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Daniel Boadi, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, urged students to take full advantage of the facility to enhance their knowledge and skills in technology, innovation, and smart systems for both national and global impact.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor of UMaT, Prof. Grace Ofori-Sarpong, expressed the University’s appreciation to AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, describing the facility as a major boost to technological advancement and innovation at the institution.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Ebenezer Cobbinah, also commended AngloGold Ashanti on behalf of the President, noting that the investment strongly aligns with the government’s vision of promoting STEM education across the country.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by management and staff of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, the General Manager and staff of Gold Fields Ghana Tarkwa Mine, the Western Regional Director of the Minerals Commission, the Regional Coordinating Director, management and staff of UMaT, students, and various youth groups.
