Gold refinery in Ghana is expected to receive a major boost with the official commissioning of the state-of-the-art Royal Ghana Gold Refinery slated for Thursday (8 August) in Accra .
The refinery will add up to two private refineries in operation namely the Gold Coast Refinery and the Sahara Royal Gold Refinery.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to commission the Refinery under the theme ” Living The Dream of Value Addition in The Minerals Sector”
The event will be attended by a host of dignitaries including Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Addison, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor and Eric Santeng, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Ghana Gold Refinery.
The Refinery, known as the Royal Ghana Gold Refinery whose construction begun in 2019, has the capacity to refine from 300 to 500 kilograms per a day through chemical and electrical methods.
Some facilities available at the Refinery include the Control room, the Scanner, the Refinery section which has the Electrolycis machine, the Moulding room and the Assay laboratory, among others.
The government through the Precious Minerals Marketing Company entered into a joint partnership with Rosy Royal Limited, an Indian company, to establish the refinery.
