A burst tyre has been identified as the cause of a fuel tanker accident at Kyekyewere on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The incident occurred on April 10, 2026, prompting a swift response from a seven-member team from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) after a distress call was received.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a DAF fuel tanker involved in the accident. No persons were trapped in the vehicle, although two male casualties were recorded.
Preliminary assessments by the GNFS indicate that the accident was caused by a rear tyre burst, which led to partial damage to the tanker.
The situation was brought under control by the fire service, preventing further escalation.
