The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has scheduled a public hearing on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed Port of Keta Project, which is to be located at Kedzi in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.
The hearing is slated for Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., and will take place at the Bethel Church, opposite KETASCO.
According to the EPA, the public hearing forms part of the statutory process under Ghana’s environmental regulations, which require stakeholder and community participation in the review of major projects that could impact the environment.
The event will provide an opportunity for residents, local authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to make inputs, raise concerns, and seek clarifications about the potential environmental and social effects of the proposed port project.
The EPA emphasized that the public’s involvement is crucial to ensuring that the Port of Keta project is developed sustainably and in line with environmental protection standards.
“The public is hereby invited to participate in this important national exercise,” the notice stated.
The proposed Port of Keta Project is expected to be a key maritime and logistics hub for Ghana’s eastern corridor, boosting trade, job creation, and regional economic growth while promoting environmentally responsible development.
