Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has dismissed as false and baseless reports suggesting that she awarded a contract worth US$5.2 million for the renovation of the country’s embassy in Benin.
In a strongly worded statement, the Minister urged the public to treat the claims with utter contempt, stressing that no such contract had been signed.
“For the record, I have not awarded any embassy renovation contract anywhere in the world. Not a single embassy renovation or construction contract has been awarded by me since I became Foreign Minister,” she said.
Instead, the Minister explained that she has acted in the opposite direction — protecting taxpayers’ money by cancelling a US$3.5 million single-source “midnight contract” that was awarded on 7th November, 2024 for renovation works at Ghana’s embassy in Abidjan.
Reaffirming her commitment to President Mahama’s Reset Agenda, the Minister assured Ghanaians of her dedication to transparency and accountability.
“I shall never betray the trust of the Ghanaian people as we work tirelessly, and with integrity, to achieve the Reset Agenda,” she emphasized.
