The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly dismissed reports suggesting that it has incurred losses exceeding GHC3 billion in its first year of operations, describing the claim as entirely false and intentionally misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, the statutory corporation said a publication by Asaase Radio alleging the massive losses was “deliberately contrived” to undermine the institution’s achievements and its contribution to the stabilisation and revitalisation of Ghana’s economy.
“The publication under reference is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contribution of the GoldBod,” the statement read. “Contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses/profit since its establishment.”
GoldBod noted that its quarterly financial statements—which officials say confirm its profitability—will soon be published on its official website for public scrutiny. The organisation emphasised that it remains committed to transparency and accountability.
The statement urged the public to disregard the report and called on Asaase Radio to retract the publication and render an unqualified apology for what it described as a misleading and unethical piece of journalism.
GoldBod reiterated its readiness to continue supporting Ghana’s economic recovery efforts, assuring stakeholders that its operations remain strong, stable and profitable.
