A 27-year-old miner has died following an attack by guards of a community mining firm at Manso-Asamang in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
A video in circulation on social media is purported to show two workers from the mining firm being subjected to assault, following which one of the victims died.
The deceased, Kwabena Amankwa, and the other assault victim were allegedly assaulted on suspicion of stealing gold ore from the company.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Nana Yaw Gyima, wife of the deceased, Ama Awandaga claimed her husband was stripped naked and beaten mercilessly.

He was later released but died moments later.
Ama Awandaga further revealed that her husband had worked with the mining firm for almost two months.
Meanwhile, the second assault victim is receiving treatment at Bekwai Hospital.
