MTN Group has been inducted into the inaugural Brand Africa Hall of Fame in recognition of its transformational impact on African consumers and its role in shaping a positive African narrative. The company was also honoured as the most admired African brand contributing to a better Africa, the most admired African brand by spontaneous recall, the most admired brand doing good for society and the environment, and the most admired telecommunications brand.
This Hall of Fame recognition, introduced by Brand Africa this year, celebrates brands that have demonstrated sustained excellence and influence across the continent over the past decade. MTN’s induction highlights its ongoing commitment to expanding digital access, promoting financial inclusion, and contributing meaningfully to Africa’s development.
The announcement was made alongside the release of the 2025 edition of the Brand Africa 100 rankings—an independent annual survey conducted across more than 30 African countries and covering over 85% of the continent’s population and GDP.
Commenting on the honour, MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita expressed gratitude for the recognition. He stated that being inducted into the Hall of Fame and named the most admired African brand in several categories was particularly significant during Africa Month. According to Mupita, the recognition reflects the continent’s progress and the critical role trusted brands play in promoting inclusive, digitally enabled growth. He also thanked MTNers, partners, and stakeholders across Africa for their collective contribution to the brand’s achievements.
MTN currently operates in 16 countries and has, since 2021, been guided by its strategic vision, Ambition 2025: Leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress. This strategy reinforces the company’s dedication to digital transformation, financial inclusion, and innovation across the continent.
Further cementing its leadership, MTN was once again named South Africa’s most valuable brand in the 2025 Brand Finance Top 100 Report, with a brand valuation of R50.7 billion. The company has maintained this position every year since the survey began in 2012.
