Accra is set to become the centre of West Africa’s mining industry as more than 6,000 mining professionals and over 250 exhibitors from 20 countries converge on Ghana for the 19th edition of the West African Mining & Power Expo (WAMPEX 2026).
The three-day event, scheduled for June 3 to 5, 2026, will be held at its new venue, the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, marking the largest edition of the mining and power exhibition in its 32-year history.
Organised by dmg events in partnership with the Ghana Chamber of Mines and Events & Projects International Ltd (EPI), and endorsed by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the event is expected to attract procurement specialists, engineers, mining executives, investors, contractors, and technology providers from across the globe.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Ken Ashigbey, described WAMPEX as a critical platform for advancing local participation in the mining sector.
According to him, the future of mining in West Africa depends on how effectively local companies are empowered to compete, innovate, and capture greater value within the industry.
“WAMPEX represents a critical platform for advancing local content development in West Africa’s mining sector. As the industry grows, it is essential that West African businesses — from suppliers and contractors to service providers and technology firms — are well positioned to capture a greater share of the value being created,” he said.
Events Director at dmg events, Adele Tolken, noted that the exhibition has connected mining professionals with industry solutions and partnerships for more than three decades.
She said the relocation to La Palm reflects both the growth of WAMPEX and the expansion of West Africa’s mining industry.
West Africa’s mining sector is currently valued at more than US$52 billion and is projected to reach US$89 billion by 2033, driven by rising investments in gold, bauxite, iron ore, and critical minerals across Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
Organisers say WAMPEX 2026 will provide participants with direct access to the full mining value chain, including exploration, mineral processing, mining equipment, digital technologies, energy solutions, and environmental and safety services.
This year’s exhibition will feature companies from Ghana, China, South Africa, India, Türkiye, Australia, Germany, France, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Peru, the United Kingdom, and Mongolia.
Several countries, including Mongolia, France, South Korea, Belgium, Italy, Slovakia, and the United Arab Emirates, will be participating in the exhibition for the first time.
Major international exhibitors expected at the event include FL Smidth, GK Europe, Gekko Systems, Lyon Partner Alliance, and South African Mineral Processing Equipment, alongside Ghanaian firms such as Jodi Construction, PL International, Rema Tip Top, and PowerX Equipment.
The WAMPEX Conference will also host more than 350 senior delegates and over 100 speakers across multiple sessions focused on sustainability, investment, technology, and operational efficiency in mining.
The event is backed by headline sponsors AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, and B5Plus, while Newmont serves as Gold Sponsor.
