A Turkish energy firm, Synergy Co. Ltd., has announced plans to invest in Ghana’s renewable energy sector by establishing a solar and smart meter manufacturing plant in the country.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, and representatives of Synergy Co. Ltd. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The meeting aligns with the government’s broader agenda to promote solar energy adoption and green technology development in Ghana.
With 48 years of experience in the energy sector, Synergy expressed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s renewable energy drive by producing high-quality smart meters and solar technologies locally.
Local Manufacturing Plant
Synergy intends to set up a state-of-the-art production facility in Ghana, capable of manufacturing up to 12 million electrical meters annually. These meters will feature anti-tampering technology to help reduce energy losses and improve efficiency in Ghana’s electricity distribution system.

Technology & Training Hub:
Beyond manufacturing, Synergy plans to establish a training school to equip Ghanaians with skills in solar panel and meter production, boosting local expertise in renewable energy technology and creating employment opportunities.
Government Collaboration & Market Integration:
The company has requested government support in integrating its products into Ghana’s energy sector, ensuring that its solar and smart meter technologies seamlessly align with national energy policies.
Government’s Support for Green Transition
Minister John Abdulai Jinapor welcomed Synergy’s investment plans, particularly its focus on local manufacturing and skills development.
“This investment aligns with our government’s commitment to green energy and sustainability. We are ready to collaborate with Synergy to ensure the successful implementation of their plans,” he stated.
The Minister further emphasized that local content development and job creation remain key priorities for the government, assuring Synergy of full support in facilitating their operations in Ghana.
With this initiative, Synergy’s entry into Ghana’s renewable energy market is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in the country’s power sector, marking a significant step toward energy security and economic growth.
