Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority,, has issued a sharp response to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, accusing him of misrepresenting a private communication between the two.
The controversy follows Gyampo’s appearance on TV3’s The Key Points programme, during which he expressed concern about the potential for financial loss to the state in the course of ongoing investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
In what appears to be a direct reaction to Gyampo’s commentary, Mr. Agyebeng issued a public statement suggesting that Gyampo had contacted his office in relation to the investigations—an assertion the academic and governance expert now refutes.
“Kissi, I didn’t call your office, I called YOU,” Gyampo wrote in a public reply. “We never spoke on the phone because you said you couldn’t speak and would call back. I only sent a text to caution you not to cause financial loss to the state even as you go about your investigations, which I fully support.”
Gyampo emphasized that his message was not an attempt to interfere with or undermine the work of the OSP, but rather a patriotic caution shared in good faith.
He also expressed disappointment at what he described as an unfair insinuation—that his outreach might have been aimed at influencing the outcome of investigations.
“If your statement suggests that I called your office to ask you to do something untoward, then that is not only inaccurate but also deeply unfair. It is this misrepresentation that now causes me to question your intentions,” Gyampo added.
The professor further indicated that he intends to publish the full content of his WhatsApp messages to the Special Prosecutor to set the record straight and affirm his original intent, which he insists was to protect the public interest.
This unfolding episode adds a new dimension to ongoing national discussions about accountability, governance, and the role of institutions in upholding public trust.
