President Akufo-Addo got booed on stage by Ghanaians as he delivered his speech at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra.
The event, held in Accra on September 25, 2022, saw many ace Ghanaian musicians and Nigerian and American musicians grace the stage at the Black Star Square.
The booing comes at a time when cost of living has skyrocketed in the past few months due to a myriad of factors including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Ghana’s national year-on-year inflation rate was 33.9% in August 2022 which is 2.2 percentage points higher than the recorded 31.7% in July 2022, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) .
This means that in the month of August 2022 the general price level was 33.9 % higher than in August 2021.
Meanwhile, Ghana has sought an IMF bailout to help stabilise the economy.
If approved, this will be the country’s 17th bailout programme with the IMF.
