The Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Forum and Gold in the Soil Awards (Wofagric), a flagship event recognizing the role of women in Ghana’s agricultural transformation, returns for its 7th edition with a launch set for Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The launch event will be held at the Regional Department of Agriculture Conference Room in Cape Coast, in the Central Region.
Now in its seventh year, Wofagric has emerged as a powerful platform spotlighting the often-unseen but critical contributions of women farmers, agripreneurs, and value chain leaders. With hundreds of inspiring stories and countless lives impacted, the initiative continues to reshape national conversations around the role of women in ensuring food security, building resilience, and driving innovation in agriculture.
Organized by Agrihouse Foundation, Wofagric and the Gold in the Soil Awards aim to celebrate excellence, inspire change, and empower rural women through recognition, mentorship, and capacity-building.
In a statement, the organizers affirmed:“Six years. Hundreds of stories. Countless lives impacted. Wofagric continues to shift the narrative around women in agriculture from unseen to unstoppable. We’ve championed farmers, agripreneurs, and value chain leaders across Ghana — and the journey continues in 2025.”
The 2025 edition promises to highlight the achievements of new women leaders while also confronting the challenges they face — from limited access to finance, land, and markets, to the impacts of climate change and digital exclusion.
The event is expected to attract policymakers, development partners, researchers, agribusinesses, and traditional leaders, alongside a cross-section of women from across Ghana’s agricultural landscape.
As Ghana continues to pursue inclusive growth in its food systems, Wofagric stands out as a bold reminder that empowering women in agriculture is not just an act of equity — it is an economic imperative.
