Two young men have been confirmed dead following violent clashes between residents of Asisiriwa and Brodekwano in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command said the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., after youth from Brodekwano allegedly invaded Asisiriwa, leading to confrontations between the two communities.
According to the police, the victims—identified as 23-year-old Peterson Bonsu, also known as “Low Key,” and 25-year-old Kwaku Opoku—were found dead on the outskirts of Asisiriwa. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Jachie-Pramso Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police responding to distress calls from the area reported that sections of the road had been blocked with lorry tyres, while two burnt motorbikes were discovered abandoned at the scene.
At Brodekwano, a Sprinter bus was also found completely burnt. Preliminary investigations suggest the violence may have been triggered by a dispute involving a young man from Asisiriwa who was allegedly cohabiting with a young woman from Brodekwano without the consent of her family, escalating into retaliatory attacks.
During the disturbances, the father of the young man—identified as Charles Owusu and owner of the burnt Sprinter bus—was reportedly attacked by some youth at Brodekwano but was rescued by police after seeking refuge at a palace.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command said calm has since been restored following the deployment of personnel from the Kuntanase District, with support from the Asokwa Divisional Command and the Regional Operations Unit.
The Regional Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei-Akoto, together with other senior officers, also engaged chiefs, elders, and youth leaders from both communities to help ease tensions.
Police presence has been intensified in the affected areas, while investigations are underway to identify and arrest all persons involved.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as efforts continue to maintain peace and security.generate headlines for me bring the love relationship with options
