The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has demonstrated its rapid emergency response capabilities following a petroleum tanker accident at Yamoransa in the Central Region.
According to the GNFS, the Central Regional Headquarters received a distress call reporting an accident involving a petroleum tanker with registration number GT-1150-12. A crew was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the rescue team observed that the tanker, which was parked along the roadside, had been involved in an accident, leaving one person trapped in the vehicle. Personal belongings of the victims were found scattered, while oil had spilled onto the road, posing a potential fire hazard.
The GNFS crew swiftly cordoned off the area with safety cones to prevent further danger and worked efficiently to extricate the trapped victim.
The Service’s timely intervention prevented what could have escalated into a major disaster, given the highly flammable nature of the spilled petroleum.
Authorities have since taken measures to ensure the safe clearing of the site and restoration of normal traffic flow.
