The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has announced plans to upgrade the Apinto Government Hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the Western Region.
The Foundation disclosed the initiative during a courtesy call on the newly appointed Western Regional Director of Health Service, Dr Godfred Kwabena Sarpong.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between the Foundation and health authorities and identifying opportunities to improve healthcare services in communities within its operational areas.
The Foundation also highlighted its health interventions and outlined the objectives of its Group Legacy Programme, under which the Apinto Government Hospital upgrade has been identified as a flagship initiative.
Dr Sarpong expressed support for the Foundation’s interventions and highlighted critical equipment needs for consideration.
The Foundation said it has invested more than US$5 million in health-related activities since its establishment and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting improved healthcare services in its host communities.
Representatives from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Health Directorate and the Apinto Government Hospital also participated in the engagement.
The Foundation said the partnership is aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to communities and contributing to improved health outcomes across the region.
