The Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have announced the passing of Apostle Prof. Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the celebrated inventor, philanthropist, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and Kantanka Group. He died peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
In a statement signed by his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, the family described him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope, and a father to the fatherless,” while requesting privacy as they grieve. Details of his funeral will be announced later.
Born in 1948 at Bom in the Ashanti Region, Apostle Safo rose from modest beginnings to become one of Ghana’s greatest technological icons.
He founded the Kantanka Group, which spans automobiles, engineering, healthcare, agriculture, media, and more, and pioneered the production of Ghana-made vehicles, voice-controlled appliances, and solar-powered innovations.
As leader of the Kristo Asafo Church, he combined faith with science and social development, establishing over 130 branches worldwide and inspiring thousands through his annual Technology and Agriculture Expo.
Apostle Safo’s legacy lives on through his inventions, his industrial and religious impact, and the many young people he trained to believe in African self-reliance and innovation.
