Several communities across Ghana experienced power outages early Thursday, August 20, disrupting electricity supply to homes, businesses and other facilities.
In Accra, areas including Adabraka, Weija, Tesano, Achimota, Dzorwulu, Legon, Madina, Adenta and Oyarifa were affected from about 4:15 a.m.
Outages were also reported in Aburi, Tamale and parts of the Central and Ashanti regions.
The cause of the disruption was not immediately known, while GRIDCo, ECG and other power sector agencies had yet to announce when full supply would be restored.
The outage comes less than a month after a similar disruption affected parts of the country on July 29.
The latest incident is likely to renew concerns about the reliability and stability of Ghana’s power supply system.
