An attempted overtaking manoeuvre reportedly resulted in a collision between a Toyota Hiace and a MAN diesel trailer at Mile 44 on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Friday, June 26, 2026, leaving one person injured.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said personnel from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded promptly to the scene with a six-member rescue crew.
Firefighters used specialized extrication equipment to rescue the victim, who had become trapped in the wreckage of the Toyota Hiace.
The casualty was subsequently transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
According to the GNFS, the Toyota Hiace sustained extensive damage, while the MAN diesel trailer suffered minor damage to its rear.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Hiace driver attempted to overtake a slow-moving vehicle, resulting in the collision.
