Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply affecting parts of western Accra following technical challenges at the Weija Water Treatment Plant.
According to a statement issued by the company on May 13, 2026, the technical fault has disrupted water production and distribution, resulting in erratic supply and low water pressure in several communities.
The affected areas include Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa, Ablekuma, and surrounding communities.
Ghana Water Ltd assured the public that engineers and technical teams are actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
In the interim, the company has advised residents to store adequate water whenever supply is restored to help manage the disruption. Essential service providers have also been encouraged to liaise with their Assembly Members or contact the GWL Call Centre for assistance.
The designated helplines provided include 0800 40 000 (Telecel lines only), 0302218240, 0207385087, 0207385088, 0207385089, and 0207385090. Customers can also access updates via Ghana Water Ltd’s official social media platforms.
Ghana Water Ltd expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience and cooperation from affected customers as restoration works continue.
