Zijin Golden Ridge Limited has been recognized for its continued commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation at the Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA) 2025 organized by the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
The company placed 3rd in the Best Performer in Environmental Management category and 2nd in the Best Performer in Innovation award category.
The awards ceremony, which was held on 5th December 2025 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, brought together the major players in the mining industry in Ghana.
Zijin earned the second place in the Best Performer in Innovation Award for championing the Stockpile Ground Engaging Tools (GET) Extraction Solution.

The solution allowed the mine to screen and remove all scrap metals with a highly sensitive magnetic plate before feeding the material to the crusher.
The solution also drastically reduced the risk of crusher jams, prevented costly repairs to mantle and other crusher components, and ultimately improved production and utilization outcomes.
The company placed third the Best in Environmental Management Award for its work in championing reforestation in Ghana’s mining industry, among other initiatives.
The company has committed to reforest/restore 303 hectares of degraded land through the establishment of forest tree plantations as compensation for the area deforested by mining operations.
This represents three times the area allocated within the forest reserve for mining as reforestation off-set.
Akyem Gold Mines in 2014 established a 60-hectare mixed indigenous timber species and Cedrela odorata forest plantation within a degraded portion of its mine site. The remaining 243ha was allocated to the company in 2016 through the Forestry Commission of Ghana to undertake the reforestation project in an already degraded land.

General Manager of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Agyemang Okyere, acknowledged that winning the awards demonstrates Zijin’s dedication to excellence and responsible mining especially having distinguished itself among several competitions barely joining Ghana’s mining sector in April 2025.
“These recognitions are a proud moment for us and evidence of our commitment and values. We will continue to grow, collaborate and share our success with our stakeholders and Ghana.
Zijin Golden Ridge Limited life of mine is expected to be extended by 20 years. The company aims to increase ore mining from 27 million tonnes to 37 million tonnes in 2026, and further to 53 million tonnes by 2028. Zijin Golden Ridge Limited is a subsidiary of Zijin Mining Group.
